My Story
My passion for nutrition began in my 20’s.
At University I was drinking alcohol in excess, regularly pulling all-night study sessions to meet deadlines and binging on carbs, sugar and energy drinks. I was constantly bloated, sluggish, tired and anxious. My periods went AWOL, and my weight was constantly creeping up.
This only exacerbated after I graduated and started my first job working in PR. I would snack at my desk all day long and drink wine every day after work. Desperate to feel better and lose weight, I followed fad diets, spent hours in the gym and ended up feeling worse. It wasn’t until I was recommended Amelia Freer’s book, ‘Eat Nourish Glow’ that I finally realised there was no point punishing myself anymore and it was possible to enjoy food and not go hungry in order to look and feel my best. After following her advice, I discovered for myself the power of nutrition and its impact.
Simple changes in my diet and lifestyle restored my health dramatically. I lost weight, my periods came back, I had more energy and my digestion and mood improved significantly. I felt so passionate about food that it gave me a desire to help others to feel their best.
I then undertook extensive training in the field of Nutritional Therapy at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in Richmond. I completed a 4 year Diploma in Nutritional Therapy and graduated with Distinction.
Fertility, Postpartum Nutrition, Family Nutrition and Weaning Support
Whilst studying I gave birth to my beautiful boy Finley. Finley suffered from reflux meaning he was often irritable and too uncomfortable to sleep making those first few months of motherhood a real challenge.
Once we started weaning him onto solid foods at 6 months, I discovered he had various food intolerances, and every mealtime filled me with dread worrying how his body would react to new foods. With so much conflicting advice out there, I am committed to empowering other parents on their weaning journeys, improving their child’s health and encouraging healthy eating habits for the whole family.
I also have a real passion for helping couples improve their fertility and supporting mothers throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. After years of my own hormonal imbalances, I truly believe my diet was the biggest factor in conceiving a healthy baby. Plus, I know how brutally hard new motherhood can be. A tough labour, crippling sleep deprivation and the constant worry was a cocktail for the postnatal depression from which I suffered. There’s so much pressure and expectation on new mothers that it’s easy to try and do everything and stop looking after yourself. There is nothing wrong with asking for help and through nutritional and lifestyle support, I can help improve your mood and energy to look after your little ones.
